APHL NewSTEPs National Webinar: Upcoming Newborn Screening Conditions

This webinar provides an overview of five candidate conditions and their suitability for newborn screening. The conditions will include pyruvate dehydrogenase complex deficiency (PDCD), cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX), congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV), metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD), and other mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) conditions such as MPS types IV, VI, and VII. 

Objectives:

The webinar objectives include to:

  • Provide an overview of the candidate conditions for newborn screening.
  • Describe potential screening methods.
  • Discuss the potential benefits and challenges associated with screening these conditions within newborn screening.
  • To address any concerns or questions regarding the implementation of screening for these conditions.
